MEET US
In 1975 Bill traded a Harley for a tattoo apprenticeship under Pete Stephens and Dennis Breen at East Coast Studio in Sacramento, CA. In ’79 he opened his first Liberty Tattoo studio in Placerville, CA but 9 months later he closed. After that, Bill worked for Ken Larsen while deciding his next move and eventually re-opened Liberty Tattoo in the American River College area (Sacramento) where he remained for almost 30 years (Myrtle Ave, Amber Lane, Auburn Blvd).
Artists have come and gone (and come and gone again!) over the years: Leroy (Bill’s brother), Jennifer, Mike, Paul, Alycia and a few other personalities. In November of 2008 Bill and Lori moved the studio to Historic Folsom closer to home. As well as celebrating almost 40 years as a respected artist and mentor, Bill is an endurance athlete who runs ultra marathons and takes week-long bicycle trips every chance he gets.
Lori, Bill’s wife, is the co-owner, office manager and a tattoo artist of 2-1/2 years. She joined the business in 2001 after 23 years of administrative experience, and has been a volunteer at Mercy General Hospital since 1995 with her friend Carol. Lori is not a runner but she can walk like there’s no tomorrow!
Bill & Lori recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.
